In case anyone’s wondering what I’ve been up to…

… there’s an account over on the National Leather Collection blog.

Still the World’s Oldest Shoe

I’ve mentioned this one before, back in 2010. It’s back, now with photographs. This is an updated version of Kate Ravilious’ earlier National Pornograhic article, ‘World’s Oldest Leather Shoe Found—Stunningly Preserved‘ from Dr Kaveh Farrokh’s blog.

5500 year old shoe found in Armenia

I know it’s a bit out of the scope of this blog, but CNN are today reporting on a leather shoe found in a cave in Armenia. It has a single piece upper with back and front seam and is strikingly like some of the shoes reported in Viking-settled areas, particularly Ireland.

The full report and photo is here.
